Linking Feelings, Thoughts, and Behaviors

There is a strong link between our behavior, our feelings, and our thoughts. Each of these categories play an important role in our lives. Understanding how each area affects the others, gives us the ability to affect and change unwanted feelings and ineffective thoughts and behaviors. Each category has a significant influence on the other two and is also influenced by the other categories. Feelings are the most difficult to directly change/affect; behavior is usually the easiest to directly change/influence. Thoughts take a little work, but they too are something we can have a direct effect on. We can use these links to our advantage when feelings seem overwhelming or ineffective for us. Changing your behavior and working to change your thoughts will by default change how you feel.
